benefits of rope skipping
Practise regular Rope-skipping : a simple but powerful way to keep fit and lose weight.

“Skipping is certainly good for the heart. It strengthens the upper and lower body and burns a lot of calories in a short time.” — Dr. Peter Schulman, Professor of Cardio-pulmonary Medicine, University of Connecticut Health Centre, Famington.

Get a skipping-rope — it’s cheap; it’s portable. Skip every morning — it’s fun; it’s healthy. It is good for the heart and the lungs. It maintains the bones and the muscles. It’s a full body workout.

Skipping is one of the fastest ways to burn large amount of “fat and calories” in a very short time. In fact, better than jogging, cycling, and brisk-walking! 10 minutes of skipping burns about 100 extra calories (that is, as if you were jogging for 45 minutes!) And without all the risks and likely damages associated with all other forms of exercises.

You can’t frown while skipping! It improves one’s mood, helps concentration, and strengthens self-awareness. You feel like a kid again! These are extra benefits of rope skipping!

Start slowly. Skip for 1 minute. Rest and stretch for 3 minutes. Skip again. Rest again. Increase speed, counts and duration gradually. You could also start with 50 jumps and increase gradually. Change styles of skipping. Starting with a total of 15-20 minutes of daily skipping time is a good way to start. And remember, just a small jump off the floor, say one inch, is enough when skipping. This is skipping, not high jump! Combine it with other work-outs.

Consult with your doctor if you have doubts or got bone/joint problems before attempting to skip.

Make it fun, not just a daily duty. Skip everyday — and never skip a day! You will be sure to attract health and happiness into you life!
